Expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat falls sick, admitted to NICVD

Expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, one of the casino kingpins, was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar of the capital as he fell sick on Tuesday morning.

Samrat, who was arrested on October 6 putting an end to speculations about his arrest since the drive against corruption began over two weeks ago from Cumilla, complained of breathing problem earlier today.

As he complained of breathing problem, the Kashimpur jail authority took him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at around 7:00.
Later, the doctors of DMCH advised him to admit him in National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).

Deputy jailer of the Dhaka Central Jail Md Jahid confirmed the news.

On Monday, police sought 20-day remand to interrogate Samrat is widely known as “Casino Emperor” in two cases filed against him.

The Rab arrested Samrat and Arman on Cumilla early Sunday.

Later, the Rab raided Samrat’s office in the capital’s Kakrail on Sunday and seized two devices used for torturing people, a pistol with five bullets, a magazine, two kangaroo hides, 1,160 Yaba tablets and 19 bottles of foreign liquor from there.

Later, a Rab mobile court sentenced Samrat to six months in jail for possessing wild animal hides and another six months for possessing liquor.
Another mobile court also sentenced Arman to six months in jail for possessing liquor.

Samrat was sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj and Arman to Cumilla Central Jail on Sunday night.
