Seven people have been died in a road accident in Panchagarh.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon on the Panchagarh-Tetulia highway.


Seven people have been killed in a road accident in Panchagarh.

Police and locals said a bus was travelling from Tetulia to Panchagarh district city when it hit an easy-bike at the Magurmari area. Of the seven passengers, five people, including the driver, died on the spot.

The deceased are Rafiq, 28, Akbar Ali, 72, his wife Nurima, 65, Labu Islam, 25, his wife Mukti, 19, Makud Hossain, 43, and Nargis Banu, 42.



Akbar Ali and Mukti died after they were rescued and taken to Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital. 

Bhajanpur highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Kader Jilani confirmed that seven people had died in the accident.

Panchagarh fire service station officer Niranjan Sarker said after locals blocked the highway in protest over the incident, they could not work properly. 

“People did not let us work properly. They were getting angry at us,” he said.

Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital medical officer Dr Mansur Alam said the scribes had vandalized an ambulance to the hospital.
